WHO ARE WE?
We are a community of teachers and educators – who love professional teacher learning. We believe that learning, reflecting on our teaching and growing as educators are a major part of our job. We have strong ties with well-known and respected academics, as well as teacher educators and discipline experts. Many members of our community also work as popular bloggers, conference speakers, online course developers and teacher coaches/mentors. We believe that the best way to improve student engagement and success at school/university is to support teachers.
WHAT EXACTLY IS OUR PROFESSIONAL TEACHER LEARNING PORTAL?
Our Portal is simply a ‘tool’ – a ‘one-stop-shop’ full of opportunities and resources for professional learning and growth. The Portal has been designed and organised to help us realise our vision. This is building a better and more engaging professional teacher learning community - for teachers across Türkiye. The Portal is also operated on a non-profit basis. This is so we can support as many teachers as possible – without any formal ties to any for-profit ELT publishers.
WHY DO WE DO WHAT WE DO?
Professional Development (PD) across Türkiye is 'broken'! This is not to suggest that some schools/universities do not do a good job. Many do. However, almost all these institutions are well-funded and have good Training or PD Units. The bottom line, however, is that very few schools (including most private schools) do not invest in their teachers/educators. MEB and YÖK do the same thing. They pay little attention to providing strategic guidance or funding for PD. Publishing companies have cornered the market in PD across the country, and while this can be useful for schools and centres low on funding, publishers are guided by their own commercial and business goals - not the needs of teachers. PD opportunities provided by publishers are dependent on how many of their books we have on our 'book lists', and any support disappears when we stop using certain textbooks or simply when the strategic priorities of a publisher change one year. Perhaps, more importantly, these types of 'business arrangements' open us up to all sorts of complications that should not factor into how we support our teachers or help them meet their PD goals.
WHO DO WE WANT TO SUPPORT?
In a nutshell, we have three major goals and three groups of teachers and educators we aim to support. - Helping dedicated, learning-focused and collaboration-minded teachers discover the best, fit-for-purpose teacher learning opportunities, resources and networks across the whole of the country. - Engaging teachers that have been ‘put off’ PD or CPD by the poor manner in which it has been implemented in school systems – by showing them that there is a better way to do teacher professional learning. - Encouraging student-teachers or teachers-in-training (esp. in their 3rd and 4th year in faculty) to join our community and start to build their own personal network of passionate and creative colleagues and mentors - before they take up their first teaching position in a school.
Subscription Rates for 2023
Here is a list of our individual rates. These are effective from Friday, 21st April 2023 and are annual plans, renewable after 12 months:

Full-time teachers/educators - 360,00 TL (less than 1 TL per day)
- Part-time teachers/educators - 180,00 TL (less than 50 kuruş per day)

As part of our soft launch over for April 2023, we are offering a 50% discount on all subscription plans. These rates apply if you subscribe to the Portal before midnight on Thursday, 20th of April..

OUR BLOGOSPHERE >>
One of the most important components of our resources/materials section is our Portal Blogosphere.
We currently offer Portal members the biggest collection of blogs and micro-blogs on any website anywhere – eleven different blogs (with more on the way) and twelve micro-blogs.
We recognise that different teachers have different needs, interests and reading styles. This is why we have organised our Portal Blogosphere in this way:

BLOGS – are made of longer posts (approx. 750-1.250 words in length) that focus on major issues in line with the ‘core theme’ of a given blog. They are written to make you ‘thunk’ more deeply about a topic and/or raise your awareness of issues and challenges in these areas. We often refer to these as ‘bedtime reading’ and recommend that you save these posts for times when you have a little more ‘free time’ and can read them at a more leisurely pace.

MICRO-BLOGS – tend to be much shorter posts (250- 300 words) that share very hands-on tips, ideas and tidbitz for use in the classroom. The micro-blogs have posts that are very practical. They contain ideas and suggest activities that you can take into the classroom without the need for lots of preparation.
As Portal members, you may find that one or two of the blogs and micro-blogs quickly become your ‘favourites’ – and you can subscribe to these specific blogs so that you receive an e-mail notification every time a new post becomes available.
Posts are written in English (ENG) or Turkish (TR), and we hope to be able to provide translations for every post by early 2024.
Our current goal is to publish 3-4 posts for every blog and micro-blog each month – meaning that we co-create and publish close to 100 new posts every single month.
We regularly assess the needs of the community via online survey tools to ensure a deeper understanding of their needs and interests – and use this data to add to/drop our blog offerings over time.
We can also provide coaching and support to those members that wish to develop their blogging skills.

Welcome to our
COURSES & PROGRAMMES
Perhaps the most unique aspect of our Portal is that we offer a wider range of short courses and longers programmes - at no additional cost to our members.
While many commercial training providers will offer a single course at three or four times the price of our annual subscription, others will charge a minimum of up to x15-20 times more for a single 20-hr programme than we ask you to in a 12-month membership fee.
This means that your subscription fee to the Portal allows you to complete as many (or as few) of our in-house courses and programmes as you choose. This is because we operate as a non-profit, and our 'business goal' is to provide teachers and educators with as many professional learning opportunities as we can - and simply cover our costs.
All of our courses and programmes have been designed and developed by well-known and respected academics or by professional training experts based here in Türkiye. We also have a range of course types – online, blended, hybrid and flipped programmes – all facilitated by the best teacher educators and most popular trainers/teachers from around the country.
In addition to our own in-house courses and programmes, we are always on the lookout for FREE learning opportunities provided by institutions and training providers outside of Türkiye. This allows us to partner with these organisations and present their programmes in a single, easy-to-access set of ‘curated programmes’.
The Portal does not host these programmes and the links we provide will mean members will have to leave the Portal to complete work on these programmes.

SHORT COURSES
We offer a wide range of 'short courses' over the year. These are typically run in the evenings and at weekends. They will last approximately 2-4 hours (half a day).
All of our courses are designed and facilitated by our own team of experienced and talented educators/trainers from Türkiye.
There are no additional charges for any of these courses for Community members and Subscribers to the Portal. You are free to complete as many of them as you wish.
Often we release Programme Modules as short courses. These can be taken as a 'stand-alone' course.
However, you may not qualify for a program certificate unless you complete all modules of the program. Quotations see individual program outlines for full details.
