Covey on allthingslearing…
One response was quite interesting…” Covey wrote the 7 Habits over 20 years ago – surely his ideas are a bit old-fashioned now! ”Mmmmm…had to think about that one for a minute or two! Yes, it’s true “The Seven Habits of Highly Effective People” was written in 1989 – but even then Covey was talking about “universal and timeless principles” and did a pretty reasonable job of promoting the notion of “the character ethic”. So, I asked…Have you read "the Habits"? You can probably guess what the response was…

Habit 1: Be Proactive
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Habit 3: Put First Things First
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
Habit 6: Synergize
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw

Paying someone back is “nice” - and very “human”!
Paying forward is creating a “preferred future” – especially for educators! Thank God…that more and more educators (and parents) are starting to see that many of Covey’s ideas can make a real difference – one child at a time… Are these really "old-fashioned" notions?
